Positions

The City of Columbia Falls is a manager type of government, made up of six  (6) Council members, one Mayor, and one City Manager. The City Council and Mayor are elected officials voted in by local registered voters who reside within the city limits of Columbia Falls and serve four-year terms. The Mayor and City Council appoint the City Manager. 

2023 Municipal Elections

The 2023 Municipal Election date is November 7, 2023. Currently three (3) City Council members are up for election. Four (4) candidates are running for three (3) City Council positions. 

The Flathead County Election Department will mail absentee ballots to all registered voters within the city limits of Columbia Falls. The ballots will be mailed on October 23, 2023. If you are a registered voter and have not received your ballot, you can track your ballot on My Voter Page.

There will be a ballot box located at City Hall, from October 25, 2023 to November 7, 2023. 

There are two (2) options to returning your ballot: 

A ballot box will be provided in the Finance/Utility Billing area of City Hall from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Mail to the Flathead County Election Department in the return envelope that is provided with your ballot. It is important to follow the instructions that are included in the envelope. 

The Postal Service Recommends you mail your ballot at least one week before the Election Day. (Note: $0.60 postage is required)

If you are not a registered voter, and will not be in town on November 7, 2023, you can vote in-person at the Flathead County Election Department, at the address located above, during business hours.

How can I check to see if I am a registered voter?
There are a few ways to check to see if you are registered to vote. You can call the Election Department at 406-758-5535. Or you can visit My Voter Page, enter your First Name, Last Name and Date of Birth. You will see your mailing address, Voting Status, Absentee Status, Precinct #, Senate District #, and House District #. 

Can I track the status of my Absentee/Mail Ballot?
Yes, My Voter Page, not only provides you with your registration information, you will also be able to track: Date Ballot Sent, Ballot Sent To, Date Ballot Received, and Status of Ballot.
